从年轻时起，申快东就沉浸在韩国传统乐器中。在他父亲“君子必懂音乐”的信念的引导下，他大约九岁开始学习洋琴风流，后来扩展到伽倻琴、大笒、细笒风流和散调加락。
虽然他作为玄琴大师获得了认可，但他伽倻琴表演的录音却极其罕见。这张专辑中的伽倻琴散调来自1984年的一盒磁带录音，由金在善（Kim Jae-seon）（亚洲唱片）担任杖鼓伴奏，并由朴世妍（Park Se-yeon）修复。
