从小，申快童就沉浸在韩国传统乐器中。在他的父亲相信“君子必须懂音乐”的引导下，他大约九岁开始学习扬琴风流，后来扩展到伽倻琴、大笒、短箫风流和散调加乐。
虽然他被誉为玄琴大师，但他的伽倻琴演奏录音却极其罕见。这张专辑中收录的伽倻琴散调来自1984年的一盘盒式磁带录音，由金在善（亚洲唱片）伴奏杖鼓，并由朴世妍修复。
