The Medicube AGE-R Booster-H—also sold as the AGE-R Booster Healer—is an earlier, single-purpose device in the AGE-R line. It is easy to confuse with Booster Pro because both use “booster” language, but their hardware, functions and public claim figures differ.
The former article embedded chat-interface markup, invented a personal test and promised immediate hydration, smaller pores, pigment-lightening, painless use and savings on skincare. This guide separates verified device identity, manufacturer instructions, electroporation research and reasonable safety boundaries.
Exact identity comes first
Medicube’s official guide calls this model the AGE-R Booster-H. EK’s exact listing is “medicube AGE-R Booster Healer,” product ID 41898. The listed package contains the main device, USB-C cable and manual; the local specification records 35 × 168 × 35mm, 75g and a 3.7V/450mAh battery.
“AGR” in the old article is a typo-like contraction. Search and support requests should use the full AGE-R Booster-H or Booster Healer name.
Booster-H is not Booster Pro
| Feature | Original Booster-H | Booster Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Primary scope | Single booster/electroporation-style care | Booster, MC, Derma Shot and Air Shot modes |
| Technique names | Watering, Boosting, Focus movement | Mode-specific motions and controls |
| Claim figure | 490% brand absorption claim | Different current brand study claims |
| Hardware | Original smaller single-purpose head | Larger head, central LED, vibration and app features |
| Buying question | Legacy-generation stock, manual and warranty | Current variant, region and app compatibility |
Medicube’s Booster Pro FAQ explicitly compares it with the “original Booster-H.” Evidence or instructions for one model should not be copied to the other.
What electroporation means
The stratum corneum restricts passive movement of many molecules. Electroporation research applies short electrical pulses to temporarily alter barrier permeability and increase transport. Pulse shape, voltage, duration, electrode design, skin site and formulation all affect the result.
This mechanism is real in transdermal-delivery research, but a general mechanism does not establish the dose, depth or clinical outcome of this consumer device with every serum.
“Temporary passageways” are not needle holes
Booster-H uses a surface device head; it is not a microneedling roller. Electroporation literature describes transient changes in barrier organization and electrical resistance rather than visible punctures made by needles.
Calling the process “opening pores” or creating permanent channels is misleading. Skin response and recovery depend on the delivered electrical parameters.
How to read the 490% claim
Medicube’s public Booster-H guide says the device increases absorption of active cosmetic ingredients by 490%. The page does not provide the full protocol needed to interpret that number: comparator, test substance, amount, measurement depth, time, participant count, variability and device setting.
It should therefore be reported as a manufacturer claim, not as “all skincare penetrates 490% deeper” or “works 4.9 times better.” A transport measurement also does not equal a clinical improvement.
Ingredient delivery is molecule-specific
Molecular size, charge, solubility, vehicle and concentration influence transport. A result with one fluorescent marker or ingredient cannot automatically transfer to retinol, vitamin C derivatives, peptides, hyaluronic acid or a complex botanical serum.
The product sitting on the surface, entering the stratum corneum and reaching living tissue are different endpoints.
More penetration is not always desirable
Increasing exposure can increase both intended effects and irritation. Fragrance, acids, retinoids and other sensitizing or active ingredients may feel stronger when paired with electrical stimulation.
Do not use the device to enhance a prescription topical, numbing product or medication unless the prescribing clinician specifically approves that device-formulation combination.
The five levels change intensity
Start at level one with a familiar, bland product. Increase only if the manual permits and the skin remains comfortable during and after use. A stronger sensation is not proof of better delivery.
Track delayed redness, burning, swelling and dryness as well as the immediate session. Return to a lower level or stop if reactions accumulate.
Watering is a circular motion
The official guide describes Watering as rolling the head in circles with a moisturizing product. Use light, continuous contact rather than pressing hard or repeatedly grinding one spot.
The name is a technique cue, not proof that the device adds water to skin.
Boosting is a sliding motion
Boosting means sliding the head over skin with a sufficiently moist skincare product. Work in controlled sections and replenish slip if the device begins dragging.
Direction does not produce a lifting treatment by itself. It mainly organizes even coverage and reduces repeated passes.
Focus increases local exposure
Focus means placing the head one spot at a time, which concentrates contact. The manufacturer associates it with a mask or concentrated product, but that also makes conservative intensity and short contact important.
Do not hold the device over an inflamed lesion, open wound or area that is already burning.
Choose a compatible skincare vehicle
The official FAQ says energy transfer varies with viscosity and water content and recommends a product with sufficient moisture. A simple fragrance-free hydrating gel or serum that already agrees with the skin is a cautious starting point.
Very oily products may not provide the intended conductivity and dry, fast-setting formulas can create drag. Follow the actual manual rather than guessing from texture alone.
Introduce the device without confounding
- Use a familiar moisturizer or hydrating serum.
- Patch-test the cosmetic separately first.
- Begin at the lowest setting for a short session.
- Do not add another new active that week.
- Record sensation immediately and skin status the next day.
This cannot prove efficacy, but it makes an adverse response easier to interpret.
Daily permission is not a daily requirement
Medicube says Booster-H may be used daily while adjusting frequency to skin condition and type. That is an upper permission, not an instruction that every user needs daily treatment.
Start less often, especially with reactive skin, and increase only after several comfortable sessions. A sustainable schedule matters more than maximizing session count.
Five minutes is a session framework
The official guide presents a five-minute how-to. Do not interpret that as five minutes on one small area; distribute movement across the intended zone and avoid repeated passes over the same point.
Stop early for sharp pain, persistent heat, muscle twitching outside expected instructions, dizziness or escalating redness.
Eye and neck boundaries need care
Medicube says the area around the eyes should use a low level for a short time. “Around” does not mean directly on the eyelid or eyeball. The official page also says not to use it on the Adam’s apple, wounds or surgical areas.
For recent procedures, active dermatitis, infection or unexplained lesions, postpone use and obtain appropriate advice.
Implants and medical conditions require the manual
Electrical devices can have model-specific contraindications. Before purchase, obtain the current regional manual and check its rules for implanted electronic or metal devices, heart conditions, seizures, pregnancy, cancer treatment and recent surgery.
If the seller cannot provide the manual or the condition is not clearly addressed, do not infer safety from influencer use; ask the manufacturer and treating clinician.
Sheet-mask use changes sensation
The official FAQ permits use over a sheet mask and notes that sheet thickness can change perceived stimulation. It suggests adjusting level, but a cautious user should not increase merely because sensation is muted.
A thick sheet can reduce feedback while the skin remains exposed to energy and a concentrated formula. Begin low and avoid damaged skin.
Cleaning protects both skin and hardware
Medicube recommends wiping the head after use with a soft cloth, cotton pad or swab and advises against washing the device with water. Remove residue promptly without soaking ports or seams.
Do not share a device without a manufacturer-approved disinfection method. A cosmetic wipe is not automatically a validated high-level disinfectant.
Charging and storage checks
The Booster-H uses USB-C charging and does not operate while charging. The official page says a green LED indicates full charge. Use the specified input and inspect the cable, port and housing for damage.
Store dry, away from bathroom steam, direct sun and extreme heat. Stop using a device with battery swelling, unusual heat, liquid entry or a damaged head.
Separate glow from treatment claims
Immediate “glow” can reflect a wet product film, surface smoothing, massage or lighting. Pigmentation, pore appearance and texture need controlled baseline photography, fixed lighting and adequate follow-up.
Booster-H is not a treatment for melasma, acne, rosacea or scarring. Those conditions need diagnosis and evidence-based care.
What independent research adds
Reviews of transdermal electroporation support temporary permeability changes and enhanced transport under defined protocols. They also emphasize safety, dosimetry and large differences between electrode and pulse systems.
An expert review identified inadequate dosimetry and poor reporting as barriers to comparing studies and translating results. That is exactly why category evidence cannot validate a consumer product’s percentage claim without its full protocol.
How to judge whether it is helping
Choose one outcome: cosmetic spread, next-morning dryness, standardized radiance photography or tolerance of a basic routine. Compare device and non-device periods while keeping product amount and lighting stable.
Do not count tingling as success. Include adverse effects, cleanup time and frequency of actual use in the evaluation.
Buying legacy-generation stock
Medicube’s current US sales collection emphasizes Booster Pro, while the Booster-H guide remains available as original-model documentation. For older stock, verify serial identifiers, sealed components, battery condition, regional plug/input, return period and who provides warranty service.
Compare total function needs rather than headline discount. A single-purpose device may be enough; a newer multi-mode device is not automatically necessary.
The practical verdict
Booster-H is a real original AGE-R model with a clear official operating pattern: apply moist skincare, choose a low level and use Watering, Boosting or Focus motion. Its 490% figure remains a bounded manufacturer absorption claim, not proof of universal clinical benefit.
The best use case is a careful user with intact skin, a simple compatible formula, the exact manual and realistic cosmetic expectations. Stop when skin signals that more delivery is not better delivery.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is AGE-R Booster-H the same device as Booster Pro?
No. Booster-H is the original single-purpose booster model. Booster Pro combines Booster, MC, Derma Shot and Air Shot modes with different hardware and claims.
Does 490% mean every serum works 4.9 times better?
No. It is a manufacturer absorption claim. The public guide does not provide enough protocol detail to transfer the percentage to every ingredient or to clinical results.
Are Watering, Boosting and Focus different energy modes?
They are movement patterns: circular rolling, sliding and spot-by-spot contact. The device also has five intensity levels.
Can Booster-H be used with prescription skincare?
Do not intentionally enhance delivery of a prescription topical or medication unless the prescriber approves the exact device-formulation combination.
How should Booster-H be cleaned?
Medicube recommends wiping the head with a soft cloth, cotton pad or swab after use and advises not washing the device with water.
