The recurring themes are a deep, squeaky-clean wash with a cool fresh scent, noticeably less oil by evening, and hair that still dries soft. Korean readers consistently describe Aquarium as a lyrical, humid summer novel whose youthful surface gives way to grief, isolation, and emotional imbalance. Its prose, imagery, and lingering sadness are widely admired, though readers seeking a light romance or comforting ending may find it unexpectedly heavy.

Korean buyers of volume 3 describe a fast-moving sequel with crisp battle scenes and full-colour pages that suit the webtoon's action. Fans of the original series were reassured by the new artist's work, though one collector feels the art is not yet at the earlier level.
