Hang Tradition — “Hello, there” Gat Wind Chime

Inspired by a nobleman’s call from outside the gate in old Korea, this piece captures the silhouette of the traditional gat, carved entirely from a block of charcoal.
Each wind chime is shaped, refined, and finished by hand—revealing the natural cracks, textures, and intricate details unique to charcoal.

HOW IT’S MADE

Unlike powder-molding or casted molds, each wind chime is carved directly from a solid block of charcoal.
Every detail—from shaping the gat to attaching the ornaments—is done by hand.
This meticulous process gives each piece its unique depth and craftsmanship.

Care & Notes
  1. Due to the nature of charcoal, each piece may vary slightly in shape and size.

  2. Some pieces may show deep natural cracks—these are not defects, but natural characteristics of charcoal.

  3. Gently wipe with a soft cloth or tissue if needed.

  4. Surface cracks may appear over time; this is normal for breathing charcoal and not a defect.

  5. Slight smudging or marks may occur due to the handmade process.

  6. Minor scratches or marks on the bell may be present.

Precautions
  1. Though the piece is made as sturdy as possible, strong impact or dropping may cause damage.
Avoid placing it where it may hit doors, walls, or window frames.

  2. Do not scratch with sharp objects or apply excessive force.
