Description
Tower of God is a Korean webtoon based on the story that revolves around a young boy named Bam, who has spent most of his life trapped beneath a dark cave, with only his best friend Rachel to keep him company. Rachel dreams of seeing the stars and escaping from their prison, and one day she disappears into a mysterious tower that reaches the heavens. Desperate to find Rachel, Bam follows her into the tower and begins to climb its floors, facing various trials and battles along the way. The tower is inhabited by a diverse range of individuals, each with their own motivations for climbing. Bam makes friends and enemies as he climbs higher, and soon discovers that there are dark secrets at the heart of the tower, including the true reason for Rachel’s ascent. En regardant la série Tower of God, je m’attendais à une simple aventure en montées interminables dans un univers de fiction. Mais dès les premiers chapitres du volume 12, il devient évident qu’il y a beaucoup plus que cela. Les motivations des personnages sont tellement profondément explorées et on découvre un écheveau d’intrigues tissées autour des luttes émotionnelles autant que physiques. Bien sûr, au début je n’étais pas convaincu par certains choix narratifs bizarres qui me rappelaient trop souvent le schéma classique héroïque-ennemi-rédemption… Puis vient ce moment décisif : l’arrière-plan dense du monde construction illuminé progressivement avec chacun dévoilement sublime sur Rachel et Bam… Cette épiphanie cathartique élève littéralement ma perception ! Ce comic mérite sans aucun doute sa réputation controversée car son exploration de loyauté tout comme celle fragiles travers sentimentaux amènent inéluctablement aux étoiles futures attendue! Ravis.
