From Sapiens who started cooking with fire to vegans today,
An epic of cooking that transcends time and space!
Once they were able to control fire, humans immediately started cooking. Isn't it surprising that Sapiens have already devised steaming and freezing? The discovery of cooking began to change the world beyond the way we eat. What kind of consciousness is contained in the ‘light and healthy food’ that is on our table today? 〈Hanbit Biz Literature Toon〉, which continues to expand the 'History Reading by Subject' series with keywords such as wine, medicine, animals, and immortality, has published a new book. "The history of cooking learned through cartoons" is an educational cartoon that examines human history through the evolution of cooking. From Mesopotamia, where beer was first brewed 4,000 years ago, through fast food to vegan diets, the evolution of cooking and humans unfolds at the same time. As an appendix, '22 recipes of world cuisine' that appear in the history of cooking are also provided.
You can read some of the contents of the book ahead of time. Preview

Interestingly reconstructed cartoon storytelling!
The history of cooking is the oldest story in the world. Our ancestors in every civilization have exercised their imagination in selecting, cooking, and storing food. Thanks to these activities, humans have been able to thrive beyond survival. Cuisine shows how humans have taken over the planet. It is no exaggeration to say that cooking and humans evolved at the same time. Writer Benoit Sima has shown great storytelling skills through his previous works, 『The History of Wine Learned through Cartoons』 and 『Immortal History Learned through Comics』. In this work, "The History of Cooking through Cartoons," he compresses and presents a vast amount of global history on a suitable plate. The major stages in the evolution of human cuisine according to human tastes are depicted in chronological order. Knowledge and humor in cleverly designed storytelling, and a graphic novel expert writer participated to bring out the best perfection.
Culinary culture blended, refined and handed down;
Showing the identity of a ‘social animal’
The book begins with prehistoric diets and devotes much of its cuisine to the first civilizations of Mesopotamia, Egypt, and China. Greek and Roman cuisine was largely absorbed into the ancient Mediterranean food culture, leaving rich archaeological traces. Recipes and cooking ingredients, such as spices, fruits, and utensils, were passed down across the sea, mixed and improved. European explorers returned home from the Americas with spices, peppers, and potatoes. Portuguese missionaries passed on the art of tempura to distant Japan. Gourmet critics such as legendary chefs ‘Antonin Carem’ and ‘Brilla Savarin’ have evolved their cuisine once again. From the cuisine of capitalism that appeared with the beginning of the food industry in the 19th century to today's vegan! The evolution of cooking has never stopped.
At the table, we share what we know as well as what we eat. Cooking is a sure sign that humans are social animals living together. From _<Preface>
