Aanvankelijk had ik mijn twijfels over de EP van Yong Jun Hyung, getiteld Loner. Met zoveel releases in de K-popscene zijn verwachte gimmicks niet vreemd en meestal doet dat meer kwaad dan goed. Echter, toen ik echt begon te luisteren, verraste het me. Elk nummer schetst een dromerige realiteit die diep geworteld is in oprechte gevoelens – vooral ‘Shadow’, waarin hij speelt met kwetsbaarheid en kracht tegelijk. De productiewaarde steekt werkelijk boven het maaiveld uit; er zit zorgvuldig vakmanschap achter iedere klankvorm die je bijna kunt voelen veranderen naarmate elke track vordert.
