Description
Suhbokmun Waist Skirt
A modern reinterpretation of tradition – this Suhbokmun waist skirt is crafted with careful kkaekki hand-stitching, inspired by Korea’s rich cultural heritage.
Made in a one-size wrap skirt design, it comfortably fits waist sizes 24–31 inches (Korean size 44–77), offering both elegance and ease of wear.
✦ Fabric & Inspiration
The fabric is inspired by the Suhbokmun (壽福文) embroidered folding screen from Beomeosa Temple.
The Suh (壽: longevity) and Bok (福: blessing) characters are artistically reimagined in colorful patterns, symbolizing long life and prosperity.
Traditionally used in celebrations such as 60th birthdays, this motif carries the wish for a happy and abundant life.
Unlike floral-patterned skirts, this design offers a unique, heritage-inspired style.

Navigating through my grandmother’s fabric stash, I stumbled upon a skirt that echoes our familial ties. The Korea Suhbokmun Waist Skirt isn’t just clothing; it wears stories woven with dreams of longevity and celebration. Each stitch of kkaekki feels like an embrace – grounding yet whimsical. Inspired by the sacred patterns seen in the aged corners of Beomeosa Temple, wearing it feels akin to donning a piece of ancestral art during special occasions in Taiwan—where vibrant color imbues every festival dinner at home.

Absolutely stunning design. The fabric feels high quality, and the hand-stitching details really stand out. It fits perfectly around my waist, which was a nice surprise given it’s one-size.
