概要
第一季
主角炭治郎過著販賣木炭的卑微生活。一天晚上，在被警告夜晚有惡鬼後，他回到家發現他的家人被殘忍地殺害了。只有他的妹妹禰豆子倖存下來，但她已經變成了一個吃人的惡鬼。他們被一位名叫富岡義勇的鬼殺隊發現，他看到炭治郎和禰豆子之間的羈絆，沒有殺死禰豆子，而是指示炭治郎去找一位名叫鱗瀧左近次的導師。在鱗瀧的指導下掌握了水之呼吸技巧後，炭治郎成為了一名鬼殺隊。他和他的新夥伴善逸和伊之助一起踏上了將禰豆子變回人類的旅程。
無限列車篇
炭治郎、善逸和伊之助被派去協助炎柱煉獄杏壽郎執行無限列車上的任務。一個名叫魘夢的惡鬼滲透到列車上，並使用他的血鬼術讓鬼殺隊員陷入沉睡，讓他們活在自己最珍愛的夢想中。在禰豆子的幫助下，炭治郎醒來並設法斬首了魘夢。然而，魘夢通過與列車融合而倖存下來。他和他的同伴一起保護乘客並最終擊敗了魘夢。然而，勝利是短暫的，因為他們遇到了上弦之參猗窩座，導致了一場致命的戰鬥，煉獄也因此喪生。
